All cycle rides are suitable for families. The minimum age
suggestion is in the key below, but this is only a guide: last year
three 5 and 6 years olds completed a 60 mile cycle tour including an
overnight stay at a youth hostel! Our cycle rides are not suitable for children on bicycles with stabilisers, but are fine for children in child seats, on trailers or riding a tandem. |

Cyclists should be capable of maintaining about 6 mph on flat paths. |
Cyclists should be capable of maintaining about 8 mph on flat paths and understand the correct riding position on quiet roads. |
Cyclists should be capable of maintaining 10-12mph on flat ground, be capable of cycling up short hills, and understand how to signal their intentions clearly to other road users. |
Cyclists should be capable of maintaining 12-15mph on a flat road, cycle up substantial hills and understand how to cycle along a range of roads, including complex road junctions such as roundabouts and traffic light signals. |
